Saturday Stillness

On today’s Saturday Stillness, I want to encourage you and your family to think of others.

During the week we are so busy with school, work, raising our children, running errands, and so much more that we rarely consider those who are lonely, depressed, stressed, worried, sick and/or unable to get out of the house.

So today, why not take your family out to visit a friend that you know is sick. Maybe bring them something to eat and eat lunch with them. If you can, keep the TV and all of that stuff off and focus on just talking and being with the person. If you know of a single person, ask them if they would like to hang out for the day because they may be feeling very lonely and your presence may make them feel really loved and happy.

If you don’t know anyone who needs a visit, then why not visit a nursing home. There are many older people who do not get many visitors because their families are far away and many nursing homes are always looking for volunteers to just come and put on a program for the residents or just sit in their rooms and talk with them. I’ve done this many times and it’s REALLY not as awkward or bad as you think! I ALWAYS leave with a smile on my face and the people are always so nice. Have your kids create a program and they can put on a play or a puppet show for the residents, they LOVE to see little children so bring a smile to their face with that idea!

Remember to make today all about spending time with family and God and just relaxing.

Have a great Saturday!!

With God’s Grace, Comfort, and Love…
