Trick or Treat: How Should Christians Treat Halloween?

Halloween 2012 is here and you may be wondering whether or not you should embrace the holiday or steer clear.

In the Christian community there are many different opinions on the holiday and so it can get a little confusing but the most important thing is to follow what the Bible says and that will help you decide for yourself and your family whether this is a holiday you should celebrate.

The Bible encourages us to stay away from anything dark and only participate in things that are godly and filled with His presence (Romans 13:12 and Ephesians 5:11-12). Halloween focuses on death, fear, and anxiety but the Bible encourages us to never be afraid (Isaiah 41:10) and to cast our anxieties on Him instead (Ps. 55:22 and 1 Peter 5:7). Scripture tells us to stay away from those emotions and instead operate out of love and Christ-likeness.
