Christmas Party Survival Kit!

Attending Christmas & Holiday parties are a ton of fun but sometimes we can get a little anxiety over how we’re going to manage to overcome the temptation to overeat all of the good food that tends to come around this time of year.

Well, don’t fear! Here are a few tips to stay healthy, slim, and still festive this season!!

Appetizers

  • Instead of going for the breaded and fried foods, dig in to the fruit slices, salad, whole-grain crackers and hummus or smoked salmon. Avoid the mini quiches and cheese puffs



Vegetables
  • Avoid the mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole  creamed spinach and creamed onions and opt for the roasted marinated vegetables and salad
Entrees
  • Avoid the breaded and fried meats and anything that’s smothered in cheesy or creamy sauce and opt for bean or vegetable based soups and stews
Desserts
  • Avoid the pecan pie, custardy fruit tarts, cupcakes, cheesecake, anything with whipped cream, sugar cookies, linzer cookies, and brownies and opt for the pumpkin pie, fruit cobbler, fresh or baked fruit, gingerbread, biscotti, oatmeal cookies
Offer to bring something healthy and low-calorie to the Christmas party so you can be sure that at least one dish will be something you can enjoy eating.
If you give in and eat something that is high calorie, that’s ok! Don’t just give up and indulge into every kind of food, instead keep trying right after you’ve eaten that one meal. Life goes on!
